Whether camping with your tent, on a caravan or campervan site, in your garden, on a picnic or on the beach, with a Cobb portable BBQ there really isn’t much you can’t cook. It grills (chicken, meat, vegetables, fish); fries (eggs, meat, fish); bakes (bread, cakes, even pizza); roasts (a whole chicken, a joint of beef, lamb, pork etc); boils (stews, pastas, curries); smokes (fish, meat, vegetables).
Cobb BBQ – a safer portable camping barbecue – hot yet cool!
Many camping, caravan and campervan sites are not always happy with the idea of barbecues or fire pits. On safety grounds many sites impose a ban on outdoor barbecues. However with the Cobb camping bbq they will often make an exception. This is because of the ingenious design of this insulated, sealed, stainless steel portable camping barbecue. You can actually pick it up by the base and move it whilst it’s still cooking. How cool is that? Literally.
Barbecue technology for the 21st century
Take a look at the diagram below and you’ll see just how it works.
- Dome: stainless steel with a heat-resistant handle. Holes in the Dome ensure even ventilation throughout cooking process creating an oven effect.
- Grill Grid: easy to clean Teflon® non-stick coating. Excess fats drain away through the holes and into the moat.
- Fire Basket: A secured area for the Cobble Stone or loose briquettes.
- Stainless steel moat: catches all excess fat. The moat can also be used for cooking vegetables.
- Base: with anti-slip rubber feet, the base remains stable and cool to touch during use.
The Cobb portable camping BBQ is packaged complete with instruction manual. All the components with the exception of the base are completely dishwasher safe.
Whether you decide to purchase the Cobb charcoal barbeque or the Cobb gas barbecue, both are incredibly versatile. Just take a look at the following Cobb BBQ videos and see for yourself.
Evolution of the Cobb portable barbeque
The original concept and motivation behind this compact, portable camping barbeque innovation was to encourage native Africans to use corn cobs as cooking fuel rather than scarce wood or coal. The original product was a simple clay pot / stove with a steel mesh grill that Africans could easily make for themselves and fuel with their locally grown corncobs, which were in abundant supply. In December 2001 this amazing portable barbeque was voted by Time Magazine as one of the best inventions of the year. After a few years an all metal ECO Cobb portable barbeque was developed which could be distributed globally to third world countries in aid programmes. Over time and as a result of a continual improvement programme we have the range of technically sophisticated compact Cobb barbecues we see today with a host of cleverly thought through accessories.
